Ben Hall claimed the honours in last weekend's round three of the MIDDY'S Speedcar Slam at Renmark's Riverland Speedway, after a wild side-by-side battle with Ben Dillon.

Returning to Renmark for the first time this season, an excellent crowd was on hand to see the Midgets battle it out over three rounds of heats and the A-Main where former State champion Dillon was set to take on series regulars Darryl Knuckey, Hall and recent returnee Graham Knuckey; in hopes of claiming the overall series.

Dillon claimed the opening heat in the borrowed S18 of Darryl Knuckey after Dillon blew his S9 engine at the recent Victorian Title. Ben Hall stormed home in second followed by Graham Knuckey.

Heat two saw the temperature increase even further as Graham Knuckey took an early lead, before Dillon hooked the S18 car into a sizeable rut entering turn one and despite teetering on the edge, came to a stop but thankfully didn't go over.

Hall Hammers Home MIDDY'S Speedcar Slam Win!

On the restart Graham Knuckey again sped away in his AMPAC S78 ride, before entering the same corner a few laps later and unlike Dillon, came undone in a vicious manner; his rear axle snapping which threw the local gun into a barrel roll towards the wall. Graham exited the car without injury.

Darryl Knuckey went on to claim the second race (his first Speedcar career heat win) in The Speedway Shop S35 from Hall and Dillon, while heat three saw the trio switch places with Hall taking the win after a great tussle with Dillon with Darryl Knuckey placing third.

The feature event unfortunately lined up without Graham Knuckey who was unable to repair the car from his earlier wreck; and also Rory Gilbert who spun a bearing in his engine. However the crowd were still able to witness a fantastic tussle between the S71 of Ben Hall and S18 of Ben Dillon who swapped the lead several times throughout the race with some brilliant wheel-to-wheel sparring and perfectly executed slide jobs!

Ben Hall eventually took the honours as the MIDDY'S Speedcar Slam round 3 winner from Ben Dillon, with Kym Cottrell rounding out the podium in his S8 machine.

The Speedcar Association of South Australia thank the tireless efforts of Riverland Speedway Promotions Inc for a fantastic track and event in the high temperatures. We look forward to returning again!
