Speedcars Set to Shine at Murray Bridge!

The Speedcars return to Murray Machining & Sheds Murray Bridge Speedway tomorrow night for both the opening round of their new SA Speedcar Blackjack Series, and the first Murray Bridge Track Championship round of the season thanks to American Tire & Racing Services!

Despite the loss of a handful of cars this weekend with transport underway to WA for the upcoming Pro Speedcar Week, some engine woes and even a honeymoon; the mighty Midgets are set to make their Murray Bridge season debut with some very strong names including ex-Speedcar Super Series Champion Mark Brown and young-gun Michael Stewart, both of NSW.

Stewart, a regular of the young-gun Speedcar pack screaming around Sydney's Valvoline Raceway; will be stepping into the SA9 Breka/Fontana of Dillon Motorsport, and he comes with some serious credentials! Son of 80's & 90’s Speedcar star Chris Stewart (ACT51), Stewart made his debut in the Speedcar ranks in 2012 and hasn't looked back, capturing his maiden feature win at Valvoline Raceway, followed by a 3rd at the highly sought after Sydney 50 Lapper! With 6 years Karting experience, including the Rotax World finals in 2011, Stewart will be one to watch as he settles into the Dillon ride.

Meanwhile Mark 'Browndog' Brown needs no introduction! One of the toughest Speedcar campaigners in Australia, Brown dominated both the Sydney and national scene for a number of years including the national Speedcar Super Series, the intensively competitive NSW club and Parramatta track championships; and the SA Speedcar Championship which he won in 99/00, 07/08 and 13/14, two of which were hosted by Murray Bridge Speedway!

Brown has this season accepted the SA3 ride owned by SA club member Peter Ghent; and the pair will be focusing on a combination of local and blue ribbon events across the country! He returns to Murray Bridge after a recent strong 3rd place finish at the Speedcar Super Series' opening round in Toowoomba, QLD.

A couple of rookie Speedcar racers will also be welcomed to the circuit this weekend, with Brad Warwick of WA steering the SA10 machine owned by his uncle Rick McKay; plus Nick Parker of Victoria in his own V39. They'll be joined by our usual home-side helmeted heroes including Jamie Crouch, Todd Bennett, Mark Harrington, Graham Knuckey and Todd Wigzell.

The Speedcars are on the line-up this weekend thanks to American Tire & Racing Services, The Speedway Shop, Ti Bolts & Race Partz, Pickos Photos and Showtime Signs; along with the 40 Lap Sprintcar Marathon, Late Models, Juniors, Street Stocks and Wingless Sprints. Adult tickets are only $25, Concession $20; ages 12 to 15 years $15 and kids 11 and under are FREE! Gates open 3:30pm, racing starts at 5pm - come along and be sure to bring a mate!
