Battling It Out For Bert & Blackjack This Weekend!

This weekend the Mighty Midgets return to Virginia's Speedway City for the next round of the American Tire & Racing Services Blackjack Series in conjunction with the annual Bert Fenton Cup!

Bert 'Scooter' Fenton was a stalwart of the South Australian Speedcar Association for decades and introduced a number of competitors to Midget competition through the use of his race equipment including Ryan Jones, Mark Harrington, John McKay, Matt Egel and more! Sadly Bert passed while living the dream watching Midget racing in America in 2014.

To recognise this tremendous effort by Fenton bringing new talent into the Speedcar ranks over the years; the SA Speedcar Association also named the club's annual rookie trophy as the Bert Fenton Rookie of the Year Award last season, ensuring Bert's name remains in the history books!

Trophies for our 3 victors have generously been supplied by sponsor JAV Engines.

This season, the Bert Fenton Cup is being run in conjunction with the third round of the SA Speedcars Blackjack Series. Jamie Crouch leads the series pointscore from Todd Bennett by a mere 10 points, followed by Todd Wigzell.

But it's Bennett who enters the night as the one to beat having taken out the last Speedcar show at Murray Bridge, and the man in line to claim the first bonus prizemoney of the season under TheSpeedwayShop.com jackpot if he successfully wins two shows in a row! We also welcome back Rory Gilbert to the track this weekend after a lengthy hiatus!
