Murray Bridge's Brett Ireland last night stormed to his maiden Speedcar feature win, taking out SA Speedcars' season opener and round one of TheSpeedwayShop.com Blackjack Series at Adelaide Motorsport Park!
Behind the wheel of his Triple X / Esslinger, Ireland was highest qualifier heading into the main event having taken out heat one & finishing 2nd in heat two; earning him the sought after pole position alongside Victorian challenger Ashley Booker in the V59 Ed Pink Ford powered Triple X. But it was Ireland who got the better start, screaming away from the pack allowing Jamie Crouch in his new Boss Speedcar and ex-SA Club champion Ben Hall into the mix!
Ireland was clearly the fastest car on the track in the super slick conditions, the only competitor in the feature to hit lap times in the 15 second range; although the battle for placings wasn't over with a great race between Crouch, Booker, Ben Hall and Mark Harrington; including multiple attempts by Hall in the closing laps to claim the final podium placing from Booker.
But it was Ireland who mastered the slick track to take the win and $600 feature winner's cheque, ahead of Crouch and Booker. Heat wins were also claimed by Ireland and Crouch.
"I just want to thank Casey van der Stelt for his help this weekend" said a pleased Ireland after the win. While no stranger to the podium in the Wingless Sprintcar division, this marks Ireland's first feature win in the mighty Midgets and earmarks him as the man to beat on TheSpeedwayShop.com's SA Speedcars Blackjack Series thus far!
SA Speedcars return to Adelaide Motorsport Park on Friday December 2nd where we expect more cars to hit the track for their first time this season, followed by round two of the Blackjack Series the following weekend on Saturday December 10th.
