Tonight the South Australian Speedcar Association (SASA) in conjunction with the Crouch family, Murray Bridge Speedway and the Speedcar Super Series are set to honour the memory of one of our own local Speedcar stars, Tim Crouch!
Tim, who tragically lost his life in a road accident in April 2010, was not only a well respected competitor in the SA Speedcar ranks and member of Murray Bridge Sporting Car Club; but an all-round great guy and a mate to everyone who knew him!
Since the event's inception competitors from Australia, New Zealand and the United States have battled it out to take the win, with some massive hitters on the perpetual trophy including Michael Pickens (NZ), Travis Mills (VIC), Mark Brown (NSW), Lee Redmond (WA) and Tyler Thomas (USA)! Tonight both Speedcar Super Series contracted drivers and stars from across the eastern states and SA will converge at Murray Bridge with aim of being the 6th winner of this awesome event! Ex-Australian Champions Adam Clarke and Nathan Smee are obviously both keen to add this to their records, but no doubt the crowd favourite will be Tim's own brother Jamie Crouch in recognisable black and green SA7 machine!
Tonight's action includes time trials which will determine the grids for the 2 rounds of 10 lap heats (with the fastest racing from the rear!). The top 7 in points after the heats will battle it out for pole position by competing in the Super 7 race.
To be gridded for this race, drivers will be randomly presented with envelope which holds a grid position and cold hard cash from the Crouch Family! All drivers MUST then exchange envelopes with another Super 7 driver and this will determine the starting grid! The 7 drivers will compete with pole position remaining vacant in Tim’s honour. The winner of the Super 7 race will start on pole for the 30 lap Tim Crouch Memorial!
